In many ways, life is a lot like a puzzle. It has lots of pieces, it is a challenge to figure out how they fit together, and it is extremely rewarding when we pull it together, But unlike puzzles that have solutions, life in essence cannot be solved. It is more like a mystery to be lived rather than a problem with an answer.
As a physician who has cared for countless numbers of people over the years whose health is in a vulnerable state, life at those moments seems anything but solvable. It has led me over and over to the conclusion that only God can see the whole picture and only God knows how it all fits together. The best we can do is to see in parts and sometimes get some of the pieces to fit together.
In 2016 I wrote a book on health, published by Crossway and the Gospel Coalition, called Pursuing Health in an Anxious Age (available on Amazonor as an ebook at Crossway). It was about helping people see that we cannot control health as a possession but can only receive it as a gift. Because in the final analysis life is radically contingent on the mercy and grace of God. I hope you will enjoy putting these puzzles together, But I especially hope you will learn how much you need to depend on God if you would ever see your life make sense and become whole and complete.
